2015, A Year Of Change & Growth

2015With each new year, SAVA continues to change and grow from strength to strength. Starting the new year off with a bang, we can see that 2015 will be no different!

Among the changes already apparent very early in 2015, we see a resignation and several promotions, and the likely announcement of imminent Senatorial elections.

Resignation

After serving the SAVA faithfully as a Praetor to the Regent since June 2012, the Lady Psion Valur De Nocte has decided to step down due to health reasons.

Psi, as we know her, has been a member of the SAVA since 2011, and a moderating and stabilizing influence on the SAVA and the SA VC in general. She has been a mentor, a healer and a friend to many who passed through the SAVC, and also to those who stayed.

Her track-record is not limited to the local VC however. In February 2013 Psion Valur De Nocte became a member of the prestigious international VC representative organization – the Voices of the Vampire Community (VVC), and also represented the SAVA in the Dark Nations organization while serving on the Brethren List of the Dark Nations as a mediator.

In June 2012 Psion was appointed Praetor to the Regent, a responsible position in which she served as one of two personal assistants to the Regent of the SAVA. She has served in this role with distinction for 2 years, and will be sorely missed. She will be staying on as a member of the SAVA, but will have less time free to spend with us, and has decided to step down.

Promotions

Psion Valur De Nocte will be succeeded as Praetor by the Lady Lunah Valur Eir, who has until now been the Secretary to the Regency – a post which will now be filled by the Lady Serephim Lena Karayan.

Lunah is Primus of Coven d’Eir, and Lena is a member of that coven. Coven d’Eir excelled at organizing the Gathering of the Damned, SAVA’s first ever national gathering which took place in November 2014 in Durban. Both Lunah and Lena have proven themselves as skilled administrators, diplomats and organizers – in fact, as skilled leaders of the SAVA during recent times. The Regency will be in safe hands under their care.

Senatorial Elections

Due to the mid-year resignation of the Lady Jezebel Strigoi-Saet Khefer from the Shadow Senate, the SAVA’s administrative body has been running short-handed. Following the departure of Senator Octavius Drake, who left the SAVA without explanation in late December, the Senate is now another member shy. Add to that, the promotion of Senator Karayan to Secretary, the Senate will again be still another member short. This reduction in numbers is enough to warrant holding the planned annual Senatorial Elections early. The previous elections were held in March 2014. In some ways, this event is fortuitous as it will allow the SAVA to align the selection of a new Senate in the first month of the new year, as it should be.

Announcements for the nomination and election dates will follow.
