House Valur Announcement: Consolidation Into Family

[It is my honor and pleasure to share this here – Val]

HVAs of today, members of the esteemed House Valur will act as one family within the Vampyre Community.

In what is hoped to be the first example of its kind in the South African Vampyre Community, the House membership will consolidate its VC-related assets into one grouping, creating something not unlike a conventional family structure, and harking also after similar House/Coven structures abroad. 2015With each new year, SAVA continues to change and grow from strength to strength. Starting the new year off with a bang, we can see that 2015 will be no different!

The Donor & Vampyre Relationship – by Lunah Valur Eir

MuttalikuTo be or not to be. That is the question…. A trivial question from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, yes? A trivial question from a Donor to a Vampyre, not so much.

Vampyre’s feeding…. Your mind races to strobe-lit images of beautiful women covered in blood, sex and music, lustful eyes, your nerves stand on end, echoes of moans and sounds of pleasure… This is where the fictional movie rudely disappoints – there’s nothing that glamorous asking someone for some of their blood. But it’s our lot as sanguines to depend on those that are willing, or to resort to meat-blood.

Picking a Donor, or at least coming to an understanding with one, doesn’t happen often – but when it does, the angels sing, the planets align, and we feed. But even something as simple as feeding turns out to be a lot more complex than one would expect, and that complexity must be taken as seriously as life and death. Continue reading

How I Feel About Being A Vampyre and Dealing With The Hunger – by Lunah Valur Eir

In our culture, when one of us takes a learner or Fledgling Vampyre under our wing, we try to teach them all they need to know to the best of our ability. While we call them Fledglings and Apprentices – and fondly refer to them as “Baby Bat” and other terms of endearment, they remain every bit as much real Vampyres as we are,  with the same needs, the same problems and the same challenges. We as Mentors strive to pass on to them the material and the experiences we have learned for ourselves – the ways of our respective societies and cultures. We do this so that they are better able to fend for themselves in the world of the Shinai, and also among other Nightkind. One of the ways we help them to learn is to ask them to write about various topics relating to the VC and their nature, their thoughts and feelings about certain aspects. By this we gauge what they have learned, and what sort of individual they happen to be. Today I am proud to share an article written by my current Fledgling, Lunah Valur Eir. The topic given to her for her assignment was “How I Feel About Being A Vampyre and Dealing With The Hunger”. Continue reading
